BMW Club Ghana (BMWCGH) over the weekend stormed the Kumasi metropolis from Accra to execute what they tagged “Delivering Hope” and Supporting Law Enforcement”.

They made donations consisting of food items, baby & personal care, clothes, beverages and other items to the Kumasi Children’s Home.

They also paid a courtesy call to the Ashanti Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Unit to demonstrate their support for law enforcement and road safety by donating high-visibility vests aimed at enhancing officer’s safety during traffic warding etc.

Founded in 2017, BMWCGH has grown to become one of Africa’s fastest growing owner supported single-marque car club.

Today, BMWCGH has over 500 members nationwide and still growing with over 200 dues-paying members mutually enhancing one another’s BMW ownership and driving experience.

With close to 25,000 followers on social media platforms, the club represents a lifestyle of passion and performance as powerful as the cars they drive.

The club aims to enhance the BMW experience of their members by providing services, support, information, and activities that promote camaraderie and encourage social awareness and responsibility.

Unofficially, they are a big support group for the Ultimate Driving Machine addiction and at the heart of their value is the promotion of Driver safety, Charity Drive and Tourism.

BMWCGH enjoys a strong, yet independent relationship with BMW Clubs Africa and its BMW Ghana Subsidiary. The club is a “not-for-profit” corporation “steered” by elected executives and supported by Communications, Welfare, Technical & Legal committees comprising of members with backgrounds in the medical fields, business developers, it specialists, media specialists, legal, banker, engineers etc.

The president of the Club, Benjamin Kwadwo Oppong indicated that the clubs keys activities evolved charity donations termed “Delivering Hope” to the hopeless – orphanage homes, health centres across Ghana and neighbouring countries.

Another objective is to engage in road safety campaigns aimed at sensitizing and educating the public on the importance of road safety and adhering to traffic regulations.

And also, promote tourism Drives aimed at promoting local tourism by capturing exciting the sights and sounds of beautiful Ghana, its culture and landscape.

He also echoed the need for Ghanaians to adhere to and enforce existing traffic laws and regulations aimed at minimizing road accidents, injuries and deaths on our roads.

Records indicate that 174 lives were lost in the first months (January – May) of 2018 in the Ashanti Region alone, representing a 39% increase in fatalities over the same period in 2017.

Some 893 road accidents were recorded between January – May 2018 in the Ashanti Region alone.
