Prophecy is the inspired utterance of a prophet, viewed as a revelation of divine will. It is the prediction of the future, made under divine inspiration. Such inspired message can be conveyed in words or in writing. A prophecy should be clear as predicting an event before the event occurs. In two days from today this season will end with a plethora of prophets and prophecies around the globe.
As one digs deeper into the word of God, one would realize that people prone to be victimized by merciless pulpits are the less informed, academically challenged and reluctant researchers of God’s word. This places enormous moral and spiritual liability to brethren to ensure we not only represent what we present, but to present accurately what is the word of God.
When matters of prophecy are discussed, it is always advisable to allow Jesus to be the guide. If for no other reason, God the father made it mandatory for all creatures to listen to Jesus the Messiah – Mark 9:7. Whereas it seems as though certain some prophecies of the old are questionable, none of the Lord’s prophetic words is questionable.
While dictating the standard for prophecies God said, “But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die” – Deuteronomy 18:20. Thanks to Jesus, who restricted the physical death penalty to spiritual death? False prophecy is a revolt against God; the false prophets lack fear of God in them and carries spiritual death penalty like other sins because every soul that sins shall die – Genesis 2:17; Ezekiel 18:20.
Prophecies must be consistent; they do not say different things at the same time to the same people or the same matter over the same period – Luke 1:57-80. Prophetic words are not vague; they are specific statements that are measurable – Mark 10:33; Mark 14:21, 14:58; Mathew 20:18; John 13:21-27; John 2:9; Luke 22:34.
Compare the above prophecies with the following prophesies: – this year: you will do great things, move mountains, move forward, go far, be favoured; it is a year of abundance; a year of healing; a year of laughing; a year of dancing and all the good things in life! These are promises pulpits tell their audiences are prophetic and continue to recycle over and over while banking millions of hard currencies into personal accounts!
Of course, the main job of professional propagandists is to keep their target audience glued to their lies by any means possible. The propagandists know that the individual has a natural desire to be on the winning side and here is where both the illiterate and even the well informed minds become most vulnerable especially when it comes to ‘thus says the Lord.’
Even if under mind control, the brethren should notice the red light, especially when prophecy failures are associated with lack of faith. God the father guarantees the accuracy of every prophecy He authorizes. There is no power on or under earth, in the universe or in heaven that can stop God’s prophecy from happening. The only exception is God Himself. For God to allow any prophecy out, He has factored in, including our faith, anything that will cause the prophecy to be realized exactly as He said it should.
Speaking through Moses, God said, “and if thou say in thine heart, how shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken; when a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him – Deuteronomy 18:21-22. This is how we identify a false prophet. Are you or your preacher a false or true prophet?
Nonetheless, the accuracy of a prophecy does not on its own validate the prophet as a true prophet. This indeed validates another prophecy of Jesus concerning false prophets who Jesus already identified will come and will do great signs and wonders – Mathew 7:15; 2 Peter 2:1-3, the sole objective of which is to kill, to steal and to destroy the brethren that gave the devil that allowance John 10:10. In addition to delivering accurate prophecies, the true prophet consistently obey every command of God the son.
As the season ends, cast your mind back and ask yourself who you served. Make the decision to follow the real life and joy giver, the only true friend who never disappoints – Jesus Christ. Ask God to forgive you all your trespasses and also forgive everyone who has ever wronged you. Make up your mind to love and treat everyone outside yourself as you love and treat yourself.
May God grant all humanity peaceful passage into 2014.
Compliments of the Season!
